Nella foto sopra che si riferisce all’anno 1946, vi sono dei ragazzi e degli ospiti durante una festa nella casa Sciesopoli “The Youth Aliyah” di Selvino.
Si possono riconoscere: Shlomo Weisbrod, Noga Donat, Jeshayahu Flamholz, Isak Rechtman, Yaakov Meriash, Avraham Hassman, Helenka Saban, Lea Shnee, Miriam Weinstock, Yaffa Yanover, Edzia Winkler, Halina Liebeskind, Dora Rot, Yaakov Kopelman, Zvi Kaner, Zipora (detto Baranek, è quello vicino alla finestra. Il nomignolo è forse dovuto ai suoi capelli arricciati come lana di pecora) Friedman, Serka Fiederer.

“One of the great events, or in fact the greatest celebration in Selvino, was on the 7th day of Hanukkah 1947.
In this celebration many of Selvino’s friends and guests attended, many Jews who heard about it and wanted to participate in this festive event, and local residents that also heard about this celebration came to take part in the joyous event.
At this celebration the flag of the (house) institute was inaugurated: Gold embroidered on white and blue background.
Early evening there was a festive gathering in the front yard, children wore blue shirts and ties, and the flag was given to ” Selvino”.
Representatives of the various groups swore to keep it, and the excitement was grand.
The entire house was decorated with flowers and greens. On the roof top there was a large Menorah that carried its lights to the far distance, torches were carried by the children, and the air hung an atmosphere of festivity.
In the dining room refreshments were served and sing- along bursted among the crowds.
The cinema hall was totally decorated, the stage was adorn with designs of Abba Fenichel, himself a Holocaust survivor who was in Selvino for a short period.
The chorus sang few of its songs, the young girls performed artistic dancings, the boys performed track and field exercises, and the play “Hanukkah coins” by Shalom Aleichem was performed by the younger children.
At the end of the evening , “stormy” Israeli dances were danced until midnight.
The excitement and exhilaration was grand in this house that begun as a hostel for 30 children in Milan.
At that very evening congratulations and gratitude were expressed to the Selvino house. Moshe Ze’iri thanked the local residents for their warm and charming attitude, he thanked the Italian authorities for their patience which they showed them, as well as thanking the consolers , professional team and of course the children.”
Il 7 ° giorno di Hanukkah del 1947 è stato un grande giorno, di fatto la più grande celebrazione avvenuta a Selvino. Molti amici e gli ospiti della nostra casa vi hanno partecipato, e sono arrivati anche molti ebrei che erano venuti a saperlo e che hanno voluto partecipare a questo evento festoso. Anche i selvinesi hanno preso parte alla gioiosa festa.
In quell’occasione abbiamo anche inaugurato la bandiera della casa: ricamata d’ oro su sfondo bianco e blu.
In prima serata c’è stato l’incontro festoso in giardino: i bambini indossavano camicie blu e cravatte, e la bandiera è stato donata a Selvino. I rappresentanti dei vari gruppi hanno giurato di tenerla bene in serbo. L’eccitazione era grande.
L’intera casa era decorata con fiori e piante. Sul tetto la grande Menorah diffondeva le sue luci in lontananza, delle torce erano state preparate dai bambini, e nell’aria c’era atmosfera di festa. Nella sala da pranzo sono stati serviti i rinfreschi e tra la folla è esplosa la voglia di cantare. La sala del cinema era tutta decorata, e il palco adornato con i disegni di Abba Fenichel, un sopravvissuto alla Shoah che è stato a Selvino per un breve periodo.
Il coro ha cantato le sue canzoni, le ragazze hanno eseguito attività artistiche, i ragazzi hanno esibito i loro esercizi atletici, e il gioco delle “monete di Hanukkah” di Shalom Aleichem è stato recitato dai bambini. A fine serata ci siamo dati a “furiosi” balli israeliani fino a mezzanotte.

L’emozione e l’euforia erano grandi in questa casa che aveva iniziato a esistere come un ostello per 30 bambini portati da Milano.
Molte congratulazioni e gesti di gratitudine sono stati espressi per la casa di Selvino. Moshe Ze’iri, da parte sua, ha ringraziato i selvinesi per il loro atteggiamento caldo e appassionato nei confronti della casa e dei bambini, ha ringraziato le autorità italiane per la loro generosa collaborazione, oltre a ringraziare i collaboratori, vero e proprio team di professionisti e, naturalmente, tutti i bambini.

Orit Even Shushan Reshef è la nipote della dottoressa Pessia Kissin, un’ebrea sopravvissuta allo sterminio, che è stata la dottoressa dei bambini di Sciesopoli.
La madre di Orit, Avivit, era tra i bambini di Selvino insieme con Pessia Kissin.
Il marito di Pessia fu ucciso in un campo di concentramento.
Pessia e sua figlia sono sopravvissute grazie alla professione di medico.
