The Sciesopoli building is a masterpiece of the architect Paolo Vietti Violi, built in 1933 according to the rationalist canons, recently submitted to the constraint of the Superintendence Archives of Milan for its historical and architectural value.
Since 1990 it has become privately owned, abandoned and in danger of being devastated. It is a page of the most important in Europe after the Holocaust and the birth of the state of Israel.
In fact the site between 1945 and 1948 has received 800 Jewish children orphaned. For several years, it is enjoying growing interest, but it must be preserved from the threat of neglect and disrepair of the time.
A Selvino several meetings and activities will be promoted to remember its value and its history.
Among the various projects in the field we strive to achieve a museum exhibition the public and organize a group of friends Sciesopoli open to all residents of Selvino, in particular young people.

Salvare Sciesopoli

“Save Sciesopoli” is the appeal launched by the Committee for the Protection of Sciesopoli memory and the municipal administration of Selvino, in collaboration with the former “Children of Selvino”.
The place is enjoying growing interest, becoming one of the “places of the heart” of the FAI (Italian Environmental Fund). It has until November 30 to support the project by voting on www.iluoghidelcuore.it site.

Between 1945 and 1948 Sciesopoli was a place of welcome for 800 Jewish children orphans and veterans of the Shoah and the concentration camps, but at present the building, masterpiece of the architect Paolo Vietti Violi, has been abandoned. The long board is promoting activities and meetings to promote the site and let people know that part of the story about the people of Selvino.

After the resumption of the twinning with Zeelim kibbutz in Israel, which since 1948 has housed the young refugees are increasingly frequent visits on the Plateau of Aviatico and Selvino.
At the inauguration of the exhibition “Presences” of the students of Fine Arts Santa Giulia in Brescia, he arrived Moshe Aran who told touched his experience during the Fascist era and its stay in Sciesopoli.

Yehudith went to also visit Piazzatorre colony and the next day on the “Binario 21” in Milan, the Shoah Memorial, the place from which his parents were transported to their deaths in extermination camps.

Culture and tourism: “The word culture is closer to the tourism of our Plateau – said the Head of Tourism and Deputy Mayor Paolo Carrara. A first step is the three-year agreement signed with the Academy of Fine Arts in Brescia. It discusses an academic competition for the year 2016 – 2017 on the theme Sciesopoli for which is planned the active participation of the students in our schools. Meanwhile, we have already sponsored and organized national and international conferences, return trips, an exhibition and a documentary, meetings with schools and tours. significant twinning promoted with Zeelim kibbutz in Israel.”
The Committee also intends to consult Unesco because Sciesopoli be recognized “World Heritage.”
The project of the Committee of the former “Children of Selvino” and the Municipality of Selvino is intended to safeguard the memory of Jewish Sciesopoli with the construction and equipping of a museum / memorial to the public “Children of Selvino”.
Documentation, materials from archives and from donations of the former “Children of Selvino” and their families, historical and contemporary videos are already in the City of Selvino. Studies and research are carried out in many schools and universities in Italy and the United States.
